Founding of Itel
Founded in June 1982, Itel begins operating in the fields of telecommunication and radio-relay systems.
1986
First MRI shielding
In Modena, Itel manufactures the first superconductive MRI shielding in Italy, which is donated to the city hospital by Enzo Ferrari.

MR and Mammography.

CE Marking
Itel’s EMC Test Lab for conformity marking of electric and electronic equipment begins operating

2007
Itel develops its presence in the radiopharmaceutical sector
On July 5, 2007 the construction works for the realization of a new radiopharmaceutical division begin. These finish on August 5, 2009, with AIFA’s approval for radiopharmaceutical production.
2008
Founding of Itelpharma
Itel opens Itelpharma, its radiopharmaceutical division for the production of radiopharmaceuticals for PET diagnostics as well as the provision of products and services for nuclear medicine, radio protection and microbiology.

2009
Start of the research project on proton therapy
The new frontier of proton treatment is a linear accelerator, to be implemented in cooperation with INFN and ENEA. The first stage of prototype research and development is established.

2010
“Turnkey projects”
Since 2010, Itel has been designing and implementing complex healthcare units and full wards for diagnostic imaging

2011
Leonardo Diaferia receives the “Caduceo D’Oro” award
This prestigious prize is granted annually by the Order of Pharmacists from the two provinces of Bari and BAT, with the support of the Federation of Pharmacists, to individuals who have distinguished themselves within the healthcare sector.

In 2014, Itel is nominated for the prestigious “Andrea Pininfarina” award, dedicated to innovative companies.

2015
Michele Diaferia appointed as Itel’s CEO
Since his youth, Michele Diaferia has been employed by the company founded by his father, Leonardo, working with the research team for the implementation of several projects, such as “Massime” (innovative mechatronic safety system for railway, aerospace and robotic applications) and “Amiderha” (minimally invasive advanced systems for diagnostics and radiotherapy).

2015
Two-star legality rating
In August 2015, the Italian Antitrust Authority assigns Itel a two-star legality rating, thus recognizing not only its basic compliance requirements but also other important qualities which outline the ethical aspects of the company.

Ettore Diaferia takes on the role of Itel’s Board Director
Ettore Diaferia is responsible for software development and project management

2016
Itel joins forces with AAA
The international company Advanced Accelerator Applications S.A. (“AAA”), specialized in Molecular Nuclear Medicine (MNM) signs an agreement with Itel for the production and distribution of F-18 based radiopharmaceuticals to nuclear medical facilities across southern Italian regions.
2016
Itel sets up a second production line at Itelpharma, its radiopharmaceutical facility
2 million euros are allocated for the investment in the facility, which was co-financed by the Region of Puglia as well as through European Community funds.
2019
Founding of Linearbeam
Linearbeam is a spin-off company from Itel, which devotes its expertise to the development of a complete proton therapy system based on a linear proton accelerator (p-Linac). The financial volume of the investment amounts to €14.9 million, allocated through the Italian Research and Innovation Fund (RIF) managed by Equiter.

2019
The Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte visits Itel
Following wider interest aroused by EHRA, the linear proton accelerator for cancer treatment, the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte visits Itel’s and Linearbeam’s premises on April 13, 2019.
